With exclusive access to Coventry Children’s Services, this series follows six teenagers through a crucial year in care. In episode one 17-year-old Xorin had to be moved out of the city because he was being exploited by a drugs gang.
Now, after 3 years in a children’s homes in Wales this episode joins him as he returns to Coventry to rebuild his life with mum Kelly. Meanwhile, Annabelle is 19 and pregnant with her first child and determined to break the cycle of care after being removed from her parents as a five-year-old.
Episode two follows Bayley and Byron as they prepare to leave care. All teenagers living in children’s homes are legally required to move out when they turn 18 and that moment is looming for 17-year-old Bayley. Meanwhile, Byron has shocked everyone by leaving the security of life with his long term foster carers to strike out on his own.
Lastly, in episode three Havana and Kane are trying to make sense of their past. 16-year-old Havana no longer sees her Mum and has never known her Dad. Now, with the help of the service, she hopes to find him. After a difficult childhood in multiple foster placements and children’s homes, Kane returns to Coventry to be near his mum. But he wants to fully understand the reasons he went into care when he was just 6 years old and asks his social worker for access to his case files.
