Parental Guidance sees comedian Katherine Ryan explore out of the box parenting ideas by meeting families across the UK who are living and breathing them, alongside opening the doors to her home and her own family life.
Upon its release, the show was Pick of the Day in the Radio Times, Heat, TV Choice, TV Times and more. A mum to three, Katherine uses her unique brand of unfiltered, comedic honesty to explore the universal issues facing children today – lifting the lid on her and her husband Bobby’s different parenting styles in the process.
The four, hour long episodes air on W, with Katherine saying; “Since filming Backstage with Katherine Ryan, I’ve been hoping to work with Expectation on another unique ‘all access’ project. Parental Guidance gives plenty of food for thought while putting comedy front and centre. We are thrilled to bring this provocative new show to UKTV”.
Parental Guidance was truthful and painful, as well as being very, very funny. But here’s the thing: when the laughter stops, either by accident, or, as I suspect, very much on purpose, Ryan has made a serious – and seriously good – piece of television on modern motherhood. ***** 5 stars, The Independent
